I've been spending a few days with Miss Chloe. She's one of my first pets after I formed my business and she has the best energy. Sweet, gentle and always glad to see me.

Nana I'm so glad your here. Let play.
This is Chloe's favorite toy.
Tug-o-war is always fun.

Using a Professional Pet Sitter

Benefits of Using an In-Home (Live in) Pet Sitter

Using a professional pet sitter reaps benefits for both pet and pet parents. The PURR-fect choice for any pet that thrives best in the comfort of home, i.e. Greyhounds, rescue pets, older dogs and any pet who has issues being boarded.  Once you experience professional pet care in your home, you'll never worry about being away from your pet again.

For the Pets:

Benefits to your pets include:
  • Staying at home in his/her safe, secure environment
  • Being surrounded by familiar sights, smells and sounds
  • Following his/her regular diet and exercise routine
  • Lots of play time, hugs, kisses, snuggles
  • Receiving love and personal attention
  • Maintaining medical treatment, when required
  • Having someone responsible in case of an emergency
  • Eliminating the trauma of travel or an unfamiliar environment
  • Providing comfort during thunderstorms
  • Helping to ensure good health (no exposure to other animals' illness or parasites)
For the Pet Parent:

Benefits to you include:
  • Knowing that your pet is in caring, loving hands
  • Having the confidence that the pet sitter can deal with other issues - such as grooming, vet visits, home emergencies
  • Eliminating the trauma of having to transport and leave your pet
  • Not having to impose on family, friends or neighbors
  • Feeling your home and your pet is more secure
Not all pet sitters are created equal, nor are they all professional.  In hiring a pet sitter, it is important to make sure you have chosen the right person to care for your beloved animal.  Be sure anyone coming into your home is bonded and  has pet insurance.  When using a sitter service, have the sitters passed a background check (county, state and federal).  A great source for the most professional sitter is the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). reprinted by permission NAPPS

Where's Dad?

Wyatt has been listless today, first sleeping on his Dad's side of the bed, then in his Mom's office. It's day 10 staying with him. So I said "Wyatt, Mom and Dad will be home soon"

Really. They're coming home? As he heads to the door.
Nana, I don't see them.
Are you sure? Or are you just messing with me.
No Mom and Dad? I'll just see if Emmie left any nibbles from breakfast. I'm not worried about my figure.
Aww. No nibbles; guess I'll just chill.

I'll miss this guy when his parents get home.

Good bye for now.

A Week in the Life of Your Pet Nana

Highlights of the Week

It's been a great week with Sir Wyatt, Miss Emmie and Stanley. Wyatt was my first Greyhound. They are such a pleasure; not as affectionate as other dogs so when they like you it is truly heart warming.

We've taken lots of walks.
Had chats about eating the cat's dinner. Wyatt, this snacking isn't good for your figure.
Hiked a new trail.

Quiet time together is always sweet.
Wyatt keeps me company at meals.
Missing Dad a little I think.
I'm in Mom's office. Where is she?
Everypuppy have a great day.
Stanley mostly ignored Wyatt and enjoys the sunshine. That's one thing about cats, they always find the sunbeams.
Queen Emmie on her throne.

It's time for Wyatt's walk, so we will say good bye for now. It's a beautiful day; make it a great one everypuppy.

Love from Wyatt, Emmie, Stanley and Your Pet Nana. ❤️

WHERE DO I FIND A QUALIFIED PET SITTER?

Hiring a Pet Sitter

Hiring a pet sitter is a serious process.  Make sure the person you choose is trained and professional.  He/she will not only be responsible for your pet, but also will have regular access to your home.

Step 1:  There are many websites where you can find someone who will charge you to sit with your pets.  I recommend using the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters' PetSitter Locator to find NAPPS pet sitters in your area who maintain professional standard, who are bonded and licensed.

NAPPS is an association dedicated to the education, advancement and professionalism of pet sitters, which is why I recommend their list of sitters.

Step 2:  Call the pet sitters, or if possible, visit their websites or Facebook page to review their rates, services, and service areas, and make sure they can provide the type of service you need.

Step 3: Develop a set of questions and conduct a thorough interview.

Step 4:  Ask for references. Develop a set of questions to ask when checking references.

Step 5:  Insure that the potential sitter has bonding and liability insurance coverage.  If there are other sitters be sure that all sitters have passed county, state and federal background checks.  You are allowing these care givers into your home your due diligence is important.

Step 6: Have the pet sitter meet you in your home and make sure he/she interacts well with your pet. Pet sitters will collect information from you regarding your pet's care, and should have a contract outlining the scope of service as well as policies and procedures.

It's important to know that services and fees can vary widely from pet sitter to pet sitter. Professional pet sitters are happy to answer your questions - they want you to feel at ease with their services.

NAPPS is a great source to find a professional sitter who is bonded and insured!
